Gail Hampton Obituary

Blacksburg - On Saturday, May 31st, 2025, Gail Bolton Hampton's faith became sight. She passed away at her residence, 404 Cherokee Falls Road, surrounded by her family.

Born in Shelby, NC, she was the widow of Paul Hampton and the daughter of the late Martin Van Buren and Gussie Whitaker Bolton.

Gail accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at 12 years old and served the Lord faithfully for the rest of her days. She began playing the piano by ear and was church pianist from age 13 until God called her home. Gail was a member of Eastside Baptist Church for over 50 years and was heavily involved in all ministries of the church. She traveled and sang gospel music with The Hamptons for over 50 years. She was a nurse for over 40 years, 30 of those at Upstate Carolina Medical Center. She cared for her own family during and after her nursing career. Gail was a volunteer at Blacksburg Middle School Bible Club and at Pure Heart Food Bank. She loved spending time with her family including beach and mountain trips, but especially going out to eat. She was affectionately known as "Granny Gail" and showed great love through a life dedicated to serving God, her family, and community.

Gail is survived by her son, Mark Hope; her daughter, Amy Hampton Pruitt (Jimmy); her brother, Lloyd Clayton Bolton; her grandchildren, Jason Hope (Kayla); Ashby Pruitt (Neely), Brooke Hope Goodrich (Austin), and Abigail Pruitt; and her great-grandchildren, Kaylann Goodrich, Adelynn Goodrich, Ledge Goodrich, Jaxon Hope, Annie Kate Hope, Hallie Pruitt, and Callen Pruitt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Dean Hope; her second husband,

Paul Hampton; her brothers, Jim Bolton and Robert Bolton; her sister, Judy Lovelace; and a brother and sister who died as infants before Gail was born.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 pm at Eastside Baptist Church, 1284 East Cherokee Street, Blacksburg, SC. Funeral services will be Friday, June 6th, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Sellers, Rev. Ashby Pruitt, and Mr. Jason Hope officiating. Heaven certainly has gained a sweet lady. When I was a new nurse at Cherokee memorial hospital, she provided a wealth of knowledge and help for me. Thank you Gail for helping me adjust! You kindness to coworkers and patients will be rewarded! Wear that crown that you so richly deserve!
