Gail King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O’Brien-Eggebeen-Gerst Chapel - Grand Rapids on Mar. 14, 2026.
Gail Lane King passed away with her family by her side on March 13, 2026. Gail was born in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Roosevelt Senior High School in Kent, Ohio. She attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana graduating magna cum laude in education. She taught for two years in East Palestine, Ohio before marrying the love of her life, Richard King. They married in 1976 and established a home and business, King's Auto Repair, in Kent. She went on to have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren. Gail was an avid member of the Nazarene church, serving on the board and actively involved in children's ministries. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Dorothy Lane; her husband, Richard King; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Elizabeth King, and brother-in-law, Ed Myers. She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Joe) Klinger of Burbank, CA and Katie (Charlie) Russ of Park Ridge, IL. She is survived also by twin sister, Gaye Goff and sister, Becky Myers; and brother-in-law, Rob (Renee) King. Her greatest joy came with being called Grandma to Max, JJ, and Lauren Klinger and Charlie, Jake, and Molly Russ. To be a star you have to shine your own light, follow your own path, and not worry about the darkness because that's when stars shine brightest. She was our guiding star, our moral compass, she will continue to lead us as the best parts of us reflect her. We love you Mom! A celebration of life is planned for May, 2026. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Micheal J. Fox Foundation.
