Gail Magnuson, 88, passed away on March 29, 2026 at Lakewood Pines in Staples. Gail was born on August 6th, 1937 in Gonvick, Minnesota to Russell and Arlyss (Quern) Larson. She graduated from McIntosh High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bemidji State University.
After teaching in Bagley for 2 years, Gail and her children moved to Staples in 1968, where she taught first grade for many years. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and several community organizations, and served as an election judge after retiring. She enjoyed shopping, knitting and needlework, shopping, embracing her Norwegian heritage, and shopping.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children, Dan (Mary) Magnuson and Kathy (George) Brancato; her grandchildren Jack (Alex) Magnuson, Maggie Magnuson, Aaron Brancato, Brett Brancato, and her sister Sharon Michael.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lakewood Pines and Lakewood Hospice for their care and kindness.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
