Gail Nero Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Chapel - Trenton on May 1, 2024.
Mother Gail Nero, daughter of the late James Freeman, Sr. and Maryland King, was born August 21, 1942 in Salisbury, North Carolina. She relocated to New Jersey around 1963. The Lord called her home on April 24, 2024 with her family by her side.
Gail was a member of El Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. John A. Gaines and New Destination Worship Center of Bishop James Gaines. Gail was employed with the State of New Jersey at the State House for 30 years as well as Skillman Institute and Standard Roofing for 27 years.
It is no secret that Gail was a jack of all trades. One day you might find her fixing her house, working in her yard, or even taking two people to work at the same time. You might also catch her in some very distinct head scarves, or wholly jeans but those were just a reflection of how hard she continued to work. Her most valuable trades were being an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She truly loved all her family the same. She even helped out with everyone's significant others and didn't hesitate to help the entire Hanover Street family as well. There was enough of Gail's love to go around. Gail's love is a testament to her faith and love of God. Some of the many things Gail loved were going to church, enjoying a movie and dinner with her husband, and uninterrupted TV time while watching her cowboys, and Perry Mason. Gail was very witty and feisty when need be. Some of her favorite sayings were, "now don't you worry about it", "now piss on you", and "now, now, now." Now, Gail don't you worry about it we gon be alright down here.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her loving husband and riding buddy, Albert Nero; a son, Scott Cauthen; and one brother, James Freeman, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories three sons and four daughters: Donald Cauthen (Lucy), Douglas Cauthen, Christopher Cauthen (Angela), Barbara Cauthen, Marita Cauthen, Dana Oyola (Irving), and Madeline Cauthen Lloyd (Paul); a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a few great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Rick and Gary; her dearest sister, Annie (Jackie); and other siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
