Gail Ohlander Obituary

Gail Ann Ohlander passed away on November 22, 2025, at the age of 84.

She was born in Russia, Ohio, on November 29, 1940, to Vincent and Lucille Pleiman. Growing up on a farm in western Ohio shaped her strong work ethic and her lifelong love of animals and gardening.

After graduating from Ohio State University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, she and a friend took a road trip to San Francisco in search of work. That adventure was a turning point in her life, and where she met her future husband, Ronald Ohlander. Before his passing in 2022, they celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Gail worked in nursing and nurse management for 40 years, and was dedicated to her patients and her profession. After she retired, she continued serving her community as an emergency response volunteer and by supporting the COVID hotline during the pandemic.

She had a zest for life, a curious mind, and a deep love of travel and learning. Her generous spirit led her to volunteer with many local organizations, including Two Rock Elementary School, Luther Burbank Farm, the Petaluma Museum, and the 6th Street Playhouse. She was also a longtime member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Petaluma.

Above all, Gail loved spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald. She is survived by her children, Derek and Kerstin, her daughter-in-law Beverly, and her grandchildren, Katie and Zachary.

Private services will be held. Donations in Gail's memory may be made to Catholic Charities, 3345 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95407.
