Gail Petkus

Gail (Rosberg) Petkus, born at Evanston Hospital on April 8th, 1943, passed away surrounded by her family on May 13th, 2024.
Gail graduated Waukegan Township High School in 1961 and married the love of her life in 1962. She worked at Waukegan East High School as the guidance office secretary, where she made many of her lifelong friendships.
Gail is survived by her loving husband, Anthony (Dick), of 61 years and was the heart of our home and family. She raised two children, Mike (Amy Linne) and Debbi (Scott Clawson), and was a grandmother to Kaitlyn (24), Wyatt (17), Daniel (22) and Ben (20). Absolutely nothing came in between Gail and her grandchildren. They were her entire world, and she took advantage of every opportunity to spoil them rotten. Gail has three brothers that she loved deeply. Jack (Cal), Gary (Barb) and Jim (Liz). She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Audrey Rosberg who taught her the importance of independence, strength, and courage.
Through many medical challenges Gail faced in her life, she taught those around her what it looks like to live bravely and always with joy and a smile. Her smile and laughter were infectious, and she lit up any room she entered... and always walked away making new friends. She was an avid Cubs fan and known for her trademark spunk, even until the very end. Gail will forever be a bright, guiding light to her family and loved ones.
Services will be 5:00 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Peterson & Patch Funeral Home 408 N Sheridan Rd Waukegan. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to time of service at the funeral home. Please sign our online guestbook at www.waukeganfunerals.com
