Gaile Patricia Bigham-Smith

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gaile Bigham Smith on November 30, 2024. Born in San Francisco, Gaile lived a life of love, service, and devotion to her family, friends, and community. She is survived by her loving brother, Kriss Bigham, and his wife Kathy. Gaile was a devoted mother of six: Marvin Davis (who has passed), Tanya Holmgren, Donald Church, Corri Rosecrans (with husband Chris), Tricia Fulton (with husband Gene), and Leah Mobley (with husband Johnny). She also embraced many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished. Known for her grace, strength, and compassion, Gaile filled her home with warmth, laughter, and music-especially the timeless tunes of Elvis Presley, her lifelong favorite. A passionate animal lover, she cared deeply for her pets, Patches and Jr. (who preceded her), and her constant companion, Buddy. Professionally, she dedicated over 20 years to dispatching for the Sonora Police Department, earning the respect of her colleagues and volunteering with the Explorers Program. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with loved ones who went before her, even as her absence leaves a void.

A celebration of Gaile's life will be held at the Creekside Building at Mother Lode Fairgrounds, 220 Southgate Drive, Sonora, CA 95370, at 12 PM on Sunday, March 9, 2025. Gaile Bigham Smith lived a life of love, grace, and devotion. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
