Garnett Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Family Funeral Home - Atwater on Mar. 27, 2026.
Garnett Davis, a man of quiet strength and steady devotion, passed away on March 22, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born in Delaware in 1943, Garnett was a man who led by example rather than words. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a formative experience that shaped his disciplined nature and deep sense of duty. Following his military service, Garnett began a career with UPS that spanned several decades. He was a fixture of reliability, respected by his colleagues for his unwavering work ethic and his calm, professional demeanor.

A lifelong advocate for health and vitality, Garnett was known for his commitment to staying physically fit well into his eighties. He was a fixture at the gym and a formidable presence on the racquetball court, where he enjoyed the fast-paced energy and competition of the game. When he wasn't playing racquetball, he was most at home on the golf course alongside his wife. He loved the quiet focus of the game, the precision of a good swing, and the peace of a morning spent on the greens.

Above all else, Garnett's greatest legacy is his family. He was a devoted husband, a guiding father, and a cherished grandfather. Though he was a man of few words, his love was felt through his constant presence and the steady foundation he provided for those he held dear. He taught his family the value of consistency, the importance of health, and the quiet power of a life lived with integrity.

Garnett is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Denise Davis; siblings, Nora Townsend of Georgetown, Delaware, Dororthy (Gerald) Collins of Millsboro, Delaware, Francis (Velda) Davis of Havelock, North Carolina; two daughters, Kelly (Joshua) Holmes of Mission Viejo California, Amber (Art) Batchelder of Lake Oswego, Oregon; two step daughters, Jennifer (Ryan) Shaffer of Port Orchard, Washington, and Laura (William) Northcutt of Perkins, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Cody Carlson, Noah Holmes, Marin Holmes, Jack Batchelder, Drew Batchelder, and Margot Batchelder; two step-grandchildren Molly Shaffer and Rory Shaffer. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lettie Davis; siblings, Betty Sturdavant, Alvin Davis, and Charles Davis.
