"Together Again"

Garnett C. Young, age 88, of Wooster, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Smithville-Western Care Center in Wooster after a period of declining health.

She was born on December 11, 1936, in Wooster to Clifford A. and Margra L. (Sigler) Stanford and has been a Wayne County resident for all of her life.

Garnett later married Gerald W. "Jerry" Young on June 12, 1955, in Wooster. He went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2018.

She was a devoted homemaker who was also a long-time member St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Apple Creek where she also belonged to the Sewing Club and made quilts.

She was a former member of the Wayne County Care Center Auxiliary since 1987; volunteered for many years with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Akron since 1983; and enjoyed going to area flea markets. She mostly loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Rodney W. (Brenda) Young and Brad L. (Eunice) Young all of Wooster; grandchildren, Cody, Cigi, Larry and Nick; 8 great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Betty (Barry) Phillips of Apple Creek.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, she is preceded in death by an infant son, Richard Arthur Young; a daughter, Cynthia S. Stauffer; a granddaughter, Laura; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Burgan and Francis Kaufman and 2 brothers, Kenneth Stanford and Clifford A. Stanford, Jr.

Services will take place at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Pastor Jacqueline McMillen officiating followed by interment at Nashville Methodist Church Cemetery in Holmes County.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2 hours prior (12:00 pm - 2:00 pm) to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
