Garrett Daniel Irwin

Garrett Daniel Irwin, born June 9, 2004 in Hinsdale, IL, passed away suddenly on October 26, 2025 in Bolingbrook, IL. He was the beloved son of Susan and Joseph Irwin.

Garrett was a light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was marked by compassion and steadfast love for his family and friends. His passing will leave a void in the hearts of all who have not only known him but were lucky enough to come in contact with him.

He was a recent graduate of Downers Grove South High School, the class of 2023 and was thinking about going into the trades. He had a love for skateboarding, biking, running and especially being on construction projects with his dad at work. He loved to spend hours with his friends talking online and gaming with them and his brother, Ryan. He also had an interest in assisting his sister Rachel with her fire performances, joining her as her safety along with learning to spin fire alongside her. Those who knew Garrett will remember him for his beautiful smile and infectious laugh, his uncanny ability to connect with everyone and anyone around him and had a rare gift of pulling people out of their shell. He has made a lasting impact on all those who have crossed his path.

Garrett is survived by his loving parents, Sue and Joe, his sister Rachel, his brother Ryan, his maternal grandparents Bruce and Catherine Odlaug, his aunts and uncles, Kristen and Rico Duazo, Marcy and Christopher Witte, Sheila Odlaug and Joe Reilly, Teri and Michael Irwin and Daniel and Jennifer Irwin, his cousins Matthew and Claire Witte, Kayla Obernesser (Liam), Shannon and Danielle Irwin. Preceded in death by paternal grandparents Daniel and Anne Irwin. He is survived and will be missed by many more extended family members and friends. He will also be missed by his beloved dog, Farley.

We ask that you remember Garrett for the profound impact he had on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was truly one of a kind. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien. Funeral services will be held Monday November 10, 2025. Prayers will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home with a procession to follow to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 8404 S. Cass Ave., Darien for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
