Garry Biddle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home - Independence on Dec. 28, 2025.
Garry Melvin Biddle, 79, of Independence, KY, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born January 3, 1946, to Melvin Biddle and Evelyn Schaber, Garry lived a life defined by devotion-to his family, his friends, and his country.

Garry was the beloved husband of Patricia Biddle and the proud father of his daughter, Misty Webster (Joe). He was a cherished Papaw to Jessica Sorrell (Corey) and Travis Webster (Nastya), and a loving Great-Grandpa to Camden and Kaylee Jo Sorrell. He was also a dear brother to Raymond (Lori) Schaber and a caring uncle to Kevan (Stephanie) Baker. His family was his greatest joy, and he loved them with all his heart.

A proud Vietnam Veteran, Garry served as a United States Army Reconnaissance Sergeant and carried his patriotism throughout his life. He worked tirelessly as a skilled tool-and-die maker, retiring from Toyota Manufacturing in Georgetown, KY, after years of dedication-rising every morning at 3 a.m. for the long drive from Independence, never missing his stop at McDonald's for coffee and conversation with friends. Garry also spent more than 30 years at Johnson Controls in Florence, where he served as UAW Local 2926 President, always advocating for others.

Garry had a gift for connecting with people. He loved talking, sharing stories, and making friends everywhere he went. In his younger years, he was an avid fisherman, competing in tournaments and serving as President of the Northern Kentucky Bass Club. Alongside Patricia, they were a dynamic duo on the fishing scene. At home, Garry enjoyed playing cards, dining out-especially at Family's Restaurant in Walton, KY-and spending time with those he loved most.

Above all, Garry was a family man-the best husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather anyone could hope for. He loved his family and his country deeply and found joy in life's simple moments. His kindness, warmth, and unwavering love touched everyone who knew him. He will be missed more than words can ever express.

Visitation will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11351 Madison Pike, Independence, KY 41051, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Garry will be laid to rest in a graveside ceremony with full military honors beside his daughter, Melissa Ehlman, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3227 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, KY 41018.

In honor of Garry's service and love for his country, memorial donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, either online or in person at the service.

Garry's life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him forever.
