Garry George Chamberlain, 86, formerly of New Castle, passed away at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He was born June 17, 1939 in Brazil, Indiana to the late Joseph and Margaret Ellen (Hudson) Chamberlain.
Garry graduated from Linton-Stockton High School in Linton, Indiana and attended Indiana State University. Garry married his high school sweetheart, Sherri (Reintjes) Chamberlain on September 27, 1959 and they just celebrated sixty-six years of marriage. They then moved to Connersville and later to Henry County in 1966. Garry began working at the early age of seven delivering newspapers and continued working until retiring in 2004. He was employed at M.E.G. of Cambridge City for 43 years where he worked his way up to owner.
A member of South Memorial Drive Church of God, Garry was always dedicated to serving the Lord in any way that was needed. He had many hobbies including golfing, fishing, woodworking, gardening and boating. An avid IU and Purdue sports fan, Garry was also a car buff and enjoyed auto races and traveling. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his daughter and grandson.
Those left to cherish Garry's memory include his wife, Sherri Chamberlain; a daughter, Sandra Chamberlain and a grandson, Zachary (LeAnne) Longnecker.
In addition to his parents, Garry was preceded in death by a son, Roger Chamberlain along with two sisters and four brothers.
The family would like to express thanks to Heartland and Southern Care Hospice, as well as the staff of Bethany Pointe for the wonderful care given to Garry.
