Garry Risner, 68, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, in the Crestline Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center.
Garry was born in Prestonsburg, KY on November 10, 1956, to the late James and Melba (Prater) Risner. He graduated from Prestonsburg High School, Class of 1974. Afterwards Garry honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Affectionately known as "Smiley" during his childhood, Garry had an infectious spirit that brightened the lives of many. His warm demeanor and outgoing nature meant that he knew no stranger, always welcoming everyone with a smile. Garry had a passion for collecting coins and enjoyed spending hours showcasing his vintage train set, a testament to his love for nostalgia and craftsmanship.
Above all, Garry cherished his family and friends, creating a legacy of love and connection that will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Garry is survived by his sons; Gary "Lee" (Cheri) Risner, and Brandon Risner, his grandsons, Trent, Gunnar, Ash and Logan, and his siblings, Betty (Gary) Olmstead, Curtis (Sandy) Risner, Kimberly (Adrian) Goble.
In addition to his parents, Garry is preceded in death by his siblings; Sharon Damron, James Risner, Geneva Bates, Karen Howard and nephew, Ronald Todd Burchett.
Memorial contributions may be made to N.A.M.I. (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
