Obituary
"According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon." 1 Corinthians 3:10
75 years ago on June 14, 1948, a priceless treasure named Garry Dale Streeval was revealed in the small town of Franklin, Indiana.
He was one of seven children in eight years born to Helen Streeval. His surviving siblings are Allen Streeval, Tim (Cheryl) Streeval, Joe (Cheryl) Streeval, Mary Kay (Myron) Rawlings, and Rebecca Hargreaves. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Streeval and beloved mother Helen Allman Streeval.
The special qualities of leadership and the imprint of the Hand of God were vividly apparent to all who encountered him. Upon meeting the emerging prodigy, one of his forthcoming mentors, the late Elder Robert Cavaness, remarked, "Keep your eye on Garry Streeval. He's going to go far." Indeed, the places he would go! However, he would not go alone, as he found the love of his life, the gorgeous and elegant Karen Davis, and married her on March 24, 1969.
Reverend and Mrs. Streeval, along with their beautiful three year old daughter, Beth, moved to Noblesville, Indiana, and founded Calvary Apostolic Church in the summer of 1975. His steady leadership and faithful service has blossomed into a flourishing congregation with its debt-free, multi-million dollar campus located on 16400 Cumberland Road. While serving as pastor and traveling extensively across the United States as a highly sought after conference speaker, Reverend Streeval also managed the local Indiana Gas branch in Noblesville, and concluded his career as a top echelon executive with the company.
He wore many hats in life as a successful leader. Perhaps, most importantly, as the leader of his home. He once earned the Father of the Year award due to a biography article submitted by his daughter, Julie, as she aptly described how her Dad "could do anything!"
His lovingly entitled "downline" includes his faithful wife Karen, three daughters, Beth and husband, Pastor Rusty Adkins of Molino, Florida, Julie and husband Pastor Jon Hair of Moss Bluff, Louisiana, and Carissa and husband Pastor Bryan Tanton who are shepherding his founding work of Calvary Apostolic Church in Noblesville, Indiana. Papa Streeval leaves nine grandchildren to cherish his memory: Brianna (Manny) Simone, Braedyn (Hannah) Adkins, Brienn Adkins, Julianna Hair, Bryanne (Clark) Copeland, Jace Hair, Britlyn Tanton, Breleigh Tanton, Brocktyn Adkins, and his first great grandchild, Riley Adkins.
Friends and guests of the late Bishop Garry Streeval are invited to his viewing at Calvary Apostolic Church, 16400 Cumberland Road on Thursday, September 21, from 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM. A celebratory homegoing service will follow at 6:30 PM at Indiana District UPCI Campground 1900 E. Broadway St., Fortville, IN 46040. Committal service and burial will be held Friday morning, September 22 at 12 PM in the Crownland Cemetery 1776 Monument Street in Noblesville.
Memorial donations can be made to Calvary Apostolic Church of Noblesville.
