Gary Fay "Artie" Arends, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025 at the Villa at Blue Ridgein Columbia.
Family and friends are invited to Gary's Life Celebration 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home in Centralia. A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the fuenral home.
Gary was born on January 9, 1955 in Moberly the son of Amos and Marjorie (Jackson) Arends. Being the baby of the family, he claimed he was his momma's favorite. Gary attended school at Sturgeon RV until he placed the science teacher upside down in a trash can. At that time Gary entered the working world. He worked for his dad's plumbing business for a time. He then went to work for Joe Robinson Concrete, where he found his niche in life. Gary owned and operated Flatwork Inc. for over fifty years. Gary loved a good party and hosted many.
Gary will be loved and remembered by his son Travis Arends and wife Jackie, his children, Alexis and Noah; daughter, Amanda Pollock and husband Ben and her children, Lucas and Abigayle; step-son, Michael Tidball and wife Brandy and his children, Hannah, Dalton and Hunter; siblings, Judy Murray and husband Ron, Zane Arends and wife Linda, Boyd Arends and wife Joy, and Bart Arends, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Martha Arends.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Sturgeon FFA or the Sturgeon Youth Sports Association Baseball Program and may be sent in care of Fenton-Kendrick Funeral Home 104 S. Collier St. Centralia, MO 65240.
