Gary H. Armacida, 74, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Mahopac, NY passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 15, 2025 with his wife by his side.
Gary, the son of Josephine (DiMarco) and Nicholas Armacida, Jr., was born on August 19, 1951 in the Bronx and spent many fun-filled summers at the Connecticut home of his maternal Grandparents.
He was an Air Force veteran spending 5 years at Andrews Air Force Base and his final year at Incirlik Air Force Base in Turkey. In 1981 he started working for AT&T and continued to work for 26 years in the telecommunications industry. In 1983 his job at AT&T was divested to New York Telephone which led to his telecommunications career spanning AT&T, New York Telephone, NYNEX and finally Verizon, where he retired as an Engineer in 2007.
After retiring from Verizon he worked at Dutchess County Stadium for the Hudson Valley Renegades during baseball season and at West Point as an escort for handicapped patrons during the football season, all jobs he fully enjoyed.
Before retiring to Florida, he was the Senior Vice Commander of his local DAV Chapter 137 helping to bring holiday cheer to veterans at the local New York Veterans Hospital, donating time at several fund-raising events and selling raffle tickets to help support the local veterans. Through the tireless work of his Chapter the Bryant Pond Road Bridge over the Taconic State Parkway was renamed the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Bridge.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dale (Carrozza), his two daughters, Brandy (Thomas) and Jamie (JR), 4 beloved grandchildren Kayleigh, Gia, Drew and Gianni and two step-granddaughters Kylie and Kailee. He is also survived by his brother Philip. He was predeceased by his brother Michael. Gary will be remembered as a doting and loving grandfather who would do anything for his grandchildren.
Gary will be inurned at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held in the near future.
