Gary Clinton Ashley, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, just two days after celebrating his birthday.
He was born on December 10, 1950, the son of Claude and Mildred Ashley. Gary was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Ann Ashley, and a loving father to his sons Clinton Livingston, Jason (Tammy), Randy (Heather), and Phillip Ashley. He was a proud grandfather to Gary (Amanda), Jesse, Haley (Alex), Dylan (Savannah), Dylan, Devin, Jenessa, Taylor (Samuel), Zoey, Bryan (Michelle), Lexi (Albert), and Addison, and a proud great-grandfather to Phoenix, Maddox, Aria, Ayla, Daxon, and Stetson. He is also survived by his sisters Carolyn Hodge, Elaine Baxter (Scott), Jeanie Helton (Terry), Vicky Whaley (Richard), and Bonita Stayton (Rick), and his brother Argil Ashley (Kathy),and his sister-in law Mary Ruth Collins along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Mildred Ashley; his in-laws Bill and Edith Cotter; brothers-in-law Bill Hodge, L.M. Whillock, Eddie Collins, and Charles Cotter; and sisters-in-law Carolyn Whillock and Mary Cotter. A man of faith, Gary was a longtime member of Cherokee Hills Baptist Church. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, a member of Local 1544, and an active member of the American Legion and VFW. He was also a Master Mason Member of COOSA Valley Lodge NO. 929. Gary greatly enjoyed playing golf with his many friends and never missed the chance to cheer on the Tennessee Volunteers. Above all, he cherished his family and the time spent with those he loved.
The family will receive friends from 2PM to 4PM, Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. A funeral service will follow at 4PM. Interment will be at 11AM, Monday, December 22, 2025 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
