It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gary Babler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. Gary departed this world on March 2, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Gary was born on September 20, 1948 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Glen “Stub” and Beverly Babler. He graduated from North Fond du Lac in 1967 where he met his wife Karen and they were married at the Church of Peace on December 27, 1969. Gary then served with the United States Army from 1969-1972 and was stationed at the DMZ in Korea. Upon returning to the states, Gary began working at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where he worked for 39 years, retiring in 2013.

Gary was a pillar of strength and warmth in the lives of those who knew him. He was a man of simple pleasures and found joy in everyday tasks of life. He took immense pride in caring for his home and meticulously tending to it, especially his lawn, turning it into a testament of his hard work and dedication. His children and grandchildren will cherish the many years of humor, sometimes at Gary’s expense, which he took with grace, joy and lots of laughter.

Gary’s love for sports, both as a spectator, coach and devoted parent, was evident to all who knew him. He found immense pleasure in watching professional sports, cheering on his favorite teams with passion and enthusiasm. However, his true pride and joy were watching his children engage in sports and playing catch with them in the alley behind their first home, as well as coaching many of their little league teams. Whether it was a little league game, synchronized skating competition, dance recital, play or any activity that brought happiness to his kids and grandkids, Gary was there, beaming with pride and offering unwavering support.

Gary is survived by his wife, Karen; and children, Jennifer (Jason) Sanders and Jayson (Kristin) Babler; grandchildren, Mackenzie (Neil) Abbott, Jadyn White (significant other, Gage Nemecek), Liam Babler, Emma Babler, Kaylee Sanders (significant other, Alex Whitby), Ava Sanders, Kadryn Sanders; great-grandchildren, Allyson and Bryce Whitby. Gary is also survived by his brother, Rick (Mary) Babler; his sister-in-law, Susan (Jeff) Rock; his brother-in-law, Steve Bahr; his aunt, Lois (John) Giese; his cousins, Dennis Babler, Susie (Terry) Anderson, and David Babler. Gary also leaves behind many loved nieces and nephews. He will be especially missed by his grandpups, Ebony and Karter.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Glen “Stub” Babler and Beverly Babler; his in-laws, LeRoy and Marianne Bahr; aunt and uncle, Lyle and Joyce Babler; sisters-in-law, Janice Kinyon and Lois Bahr; brother-in-law, William Kinyon and his beloved pups, Ginger and Sydney.

May Gary find eternal peace, and may his memory live on in the vibrant green lawns, the cheering sports arenas, and most importantly, in the hearts of those who were touched by his love and warmth. May the Pabst flow freely and the Packers always win. PROST!

The family would like to thank SSM Hospice and especially his caretakers, Sandy and Melissa, for their compassionate and unwavering commitment to Gary and his family.
