Gary Baskins Obituary

Gary Baskins, 74, of Windsor, Missouri, died early Wednesday morning, September 3, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.

He was born November 11, 1950, in Windsor, Mo., the son of Gloyd E. "Jim" Baskins and Lela Belle (Clark) Baskins. On May 23, 1973, he married Darlene Crawford on her family's farm in Windsor and she survives of the home.

Gary was a 1968 graduate from Windsor High School. He worked at the Clearfield cheese plant in Clinton and then for Egbert Farms in Windsor before serving in the United States Army from 1970 to 1973. After his Army service, he worked for Salmon Farms, the Windsor Elevator, Windsor Special Road District, and then for the Missouri Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2008. A lifelong farmer, Gary enjoyed spending his retirement working on the farm and sharing his love for farming with his family. He was the long-time Quartermaster of the Windsor V.F.W. Post 2610. The family's annual Deer Camp and trips to Bennett Springs were special family traditions. He was proud of his grandchildren and attended many ballgames and activities to support them.

In addition to his wife Darlene, survivors include 2 daughters, Nancy Rhoads (Brent Austin), Windsor, Mo., and Dawn Anderson (Eric), Warrensburg, Mo.; 5 grandchildren, Amber Brown (Robbie), Brendan Rhoads, Coby Rhoads, Emily Anderson, and Elijah Anderson; his mother, Lela Baskins, West Linn, Oregon; a brother, Wendell Baskins (Lynn), Oregon City, Oregon; 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Crawford, Windsor, Mo., and Kathlene Brown (Danny), Windsor, Mo.; a niece, Christina Friedli, and 3 nephews, Jeffrey McKeehan, Ethan Johnson, and Derek Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, father-in-law, Glen Crawford, and mother-in-law, Louise Crawford.

Graveside services were 5:30 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family received friends before the service from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. The family suggests contributions to purchase Memorial Day flags for United States Veterans buried at Laurel Oak Cemetery (checks payable to Laurel Oak Cemetery), in care of the funeral home.
