Gary L. Baum, 70, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at his home with his wife and sons by his side.
Born in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Bennie and Wilma (Murphy) Baum and the husband of 49 years to Donna (Givler) Baum.
Gary was an avid deer hunter who also enjoyed camping and working on his home and cars—passions he proudly passed down to his sons, Matthew, Ryan, and Evan. He loved “puttering” in his garage workshop and could spend hours tinkering, finding creative ways to repair things, or simply taking them apart just to see how they worked before carefully putting them back together. Above all, what brought him the greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved deeply. Nothing made him happier than being surrounded by his family.
He leaves behind his wife Donna Baum, three children: Matthew (Stephanie) Baum, of West Chester, Ryan (Lauren) Baum, of West Chester, Evan (Ciarra) Baum, of Carlisle; eight grandchildren: Owen, Adelynn, Elizabeth, Henry, Eleanor, Walter, Kaylin, Jaxson; three brothers: Dave (Laurie) Baum, of Carlisle, Roy (Kelly) Baum, of Carlisle, Wayne (MaryAnne) Baum, of Newville as well as four sisters: Linda Heller, of Carlisle, Sandy (Russ) Neydl, of Camp Hill, Karen (John) Sheriff, of Carlisle and Lisa (Jeff) Snyder, of Carlisle. He will be greatly missed by them all.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral service 1:00 pm Monday, September 8, 2025, at Hoffman Funeral & Cremation, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, where the family will greet guests after 12 Noon. Interment will follow the service in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle.
