GARY ROBERT BOOHER March 1st, 1950 - March 10th, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Gary Robert Booher on 10 March 2025, at the young age of 75. He was surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born in Niagara Falls, New York on 1 March 1950 to John W. and Irene H. Booher. He grew up in a military family, one of 5 siblings, moving often across the country. Gary received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois in June 1972. After graduation, he settled in Boise, Idaho, near family. Gary worked with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for nearly twenty years where he moved quickly from floor staff to management team, capping his years there as a store general manager. He shifted gears in 1996 and joined the FedEx fleet as a ramp agent/courier, until his retirement in 2008. Gary decided at that time that retirement wasn't for him and started to drive a school bus for the Boise school districts which he did for approximately 15 years. Gary was an early riser for over thirty years, delivering newspapers for the Idaho Statesman. He walked thousands of miles over this time. He often lured his dad, brothers, nieces, and nephews into helping him complete his routes. Gary had a great sense of humor. He had a young-at-heart quality that you would discover in conversations with him or when listening to him tell stories. Gary had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and gossip. He often spent his time researching topics of interest, whether that be new GMC cars or what the latest National Enquirer headline was about. Gary enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing with his brothers. He loved "Sixties Gold", 70's Rock, and was a true fan of Cher and the "Dixie Chicks." Gary's entire life was spent surrounded by the people he loved and that loved him. You could count on him to arrive to a family gathering with a new puzzle, card game, or dessert to try. Gary had the magical ability to make any and every activity unique and lots of fun! Gary was preceded in death by his father, mother, and his younger brother, David. He is survived by his sister, Cheryl (Glen) Dawson, of Belleville, IL, and brothers, John "Jack" (Carol) Booher of Boca Raton, FL, and Stephen "Chris" (Debbie) Booher of Flower Mound, TX, his sister-in-law, Anita Booher, of Boise, ID, fourteen nieces and nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. Gary's presence and bold spirit will always be the missing piece to our family puzzle.
