Gary Allen Burtenshaw, 87, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on September 29, 2025.
He was born on June 2, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Leroy and Ila Charlotte (Davenport) Burtenshaw, Gary was one of six children, with three brothers and two sisters, and he grew up in Firth, Idaho. On November 2, 1956, he married Audrey Joyce (Wilson) Burtenshaw, and together they raised two children, Kevin and Janis.
A hardworking provider, Gary built a long career in sales, serving many years as a Chevrolet sales manager and later working as an RV salesman. He loved the outdoors–especially camping and fishing throughout eastern Idaho–and in his later years, he and his longtime companion, Sandra Aschbrenner, enjoyed traveling across Idaho, Nevada, and Arizona, in their motorhome, making memories on the open road.
Family was at the heart of Gary's life. He is survived by his daughter, Janis (Chris) Mooney; two grandchildren, including his grandson, Colby (Tami) Hansen; and three great-grandchildren, with a special love for his two great granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; his son, Kevin; and his parents, Leroy and Ila.
Gary will be remembered for his love of nature, his easygoing spirit, and the joy he found in simple moments with those he loved.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring or summer of 2026. Details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
