Gary Dean Cadena, age 74, of Hondo, Texas, passed away on January 19, 2026. Gary was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 15, 1951, to Elizabeth and David Cadena, Sr.
Gary was a man of many passions: for hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and family, and raising and training dogs. He not only loved shooting sports but taught them as well. Teaching our youth about gun safety was important to him. Diesel mechanics was another passion of his, focusing on performance and race trucks.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents: Elizabeth and David Cadena, Sr.; and siblings: Betty Muyres, Frances DuBose, and David Cadena, Jr.
Gary is survived by his son: Brad Cadena (Marcia), and daughter: Risa Wells (Brian); and 4 grandchildren: Izaak and Makiah Cadena, and Bryson and Brantley Wells.
No Services to be held. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Services are under the Direction of Hondo Funeral Home.
