Gary was born August 3, 1963 in Marshalltown, Iowa to parents Mainard and Betty (McTurk) Case. He grew up in Liscomb with his four siblings and graduated from BCL with the class of 1981.
Gary was hardworking and a true “Jack of all trades.” He worked alongside his brother Tim at DeKalb/Monsanto, followed by Cooper Manufacturing and Wolf Creek Rubber. He also worked in construction and ran the light board for Gold Rush for several years. Gary was always taking on additional projects and helping people whenever he had the chance. He was kind, dependable and cared deeply for everyone around him. Gary was also very social and never met a person he didn’t get along with.
Gary was fortunate in life to reconnect with a former classmate from sixth grade, Penny Page. After getting her to move from the South to Iowa, they were inseparable and spent several happy years together. He liked the simple things in life: spending time with Penny, playing his guitar and singing, listening to music, eating cookies with milk. He played cards every night, especially enjoying Pepper and Cribbage, and was also an excellent ping-pong player. Gary loved his family, his animals and his neighbors.
Left to cherish his memory include his loving companion, Penny; his siblings: Linda Klaas of Clemons, Tim (Crystal) Case of Beaman, Julie (Bob) Benson of Liscomb and Jamie (Rusty) Matney of Liscomb; numerous nieces and nephews; his extended southern family and his beloved pets: Bobby Dingo Dango Chihuahua and his cat named Kitty.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Virgil Klaas, nephew Jason Spurlin and two step-nephews Justin Klaas and Kerry Klaas.
