Gary Joseph Chingman, born on September 20, 1943, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Casper, Wyoming, at the age of 82.
Gary is being honored in a Funeral Service to be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in the Rocky Mountain Hall, located at 19 North Fork Road, Fort Washakie, WY. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the All Night Visitation beginning at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, also at the Rocky Mountain Hall.
Gary is survived by his wife, Karen; children, Gary Jr., Patty Hereford, Clarissa (Ernie) Vierra, Michael and Kelly; sister, Janis Lee Sage; aunt, Peggy Meyers; grandchildren, Evandra, RV Hereford Jr., Rylee Hereford, Eryka Hereford, Jonathan Vierra, Lorenzo Vierra, Alessia Vierra, Charlotte Wilson; Karen’s grandchildren, Lyric Chingman, Matthew Chingman; great-grandchildren, Jami Savage, Tyrus Savage, Hayden Hereford, Kellan Hereford; nieces, Reva Hill, Gladys Chingman, Challis Trosper, Leslie Trosper, Cathy Owen, Randi Eckmann, Denise Medicine Horse, Christina Sage; nephews, Todd Trosper, Chuck Elliott, Joey Sage, Neil Chingman.
Preceded in death by his mother, Florence Rose Henan Chingman; father, Ernest Frank Chingman Sr.; brothers and sister, Ernest F Chingman Jr, Phyllis Lorene Trosper, Charles Edward Chingman, John L Chingman, Ben Shannon Chingman; maternal grandparents, Gladys Snyder Henan and Jacob Henan; paternal grandparents, Emma Medahko Chingman and Charles Chingman; aunts and uncles, Ben Earl Henan, Dean Henan, Joe Henan, George Henan, Everette Henan, Ethel Ruth Classy, Thelma Coffee, Viola Smith, Mary Lou Henan, Claudine Roberts, and Elaine Engavo; step-son, Floyd Chingman; great-grandson, Jordy Chingman.
As we celebrate the life of Gary Joseph Chingman, we remember him as a dedicated soldier and a cherished member of his community whose legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
