Gary "Wayne" Cook was born November 3, 1946 in San Angelo, Texas. He entered Heaven's gates April 24, 2022.
Wayne attended Lake View schools - grades 1-12 graduating in 1965. He loved the Lake View community and his classmates. He loved to reminisce and share memories of his Lake View days. He joined the Navy Reserve in 1965. He loved his country and was very patriotic. He was a true American and was very concerned for his country.
He married Janet Lashee in 1966 and they had 3 children. Wayne and Jan moved to the Midland/Odessa area but eventually moved back to San Angelo. After Jan's death in January 1998, Wayne married his childhood sweetheart, Karen Blevins. They have been married 23 years. Wayne worked in retail most of his life enjoying working with the public. He retired from City Lumber in 2006 due to health issues.
Preceding him in death are his first wife, Janet Cook, his parents Oscar and Dorothy Cook, in­ laws Steve and Leona Blevins, brother-in-law, D'Alton Blevins, and sister-in-law Belva Hanson.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Blevins Cook, son, Michael Cook, daughters Lacy Rollwitz (Mitchell), Lindy Matthes (Todd), brother Ron Cook (Michelle), and sister Janice Balmos (Tom). Grandchildren, Dante, Katelyn, Kyle, Ean, Skylar, and Hunter. Karen's family: Wendy McAda Duran (Eddie), Mitch McAda (Jenny) and their families. Sisters-in-law, Nancy Plumley (John) and Jean Blevins. Also, many relatives and friends and his constant companion, Cooper.
Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rodriguez, Amy Watkins, and Kindred Hospice, especially Sarai Prather for their care and concern
Wayne was a caring man who is rejoicing in heaven with no more pain.
Service will be at Sierra Vista Methodist Church, 4522 College Hills Blvd, San Angelo, Texas Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.
