Gary Richard Cumber

I grew up with Gary in Wausau Wisconsin , he is and was one of best friends . Gray was part of the main reason I got into music .In 1970 " I think " Gary was practicing at a garage with his brother Steve and Wayne Kriegel , and Jeff Gordon . Tony Johnson and I were walking away from my home on 12th st. in Wausau and I heard music coming for down the block . Say no more I was hooked . Tony and I knocked on the door and asked if we could watch those guys practice . Gary came to the door and said " we don't let anybody watch us practice . We'll we came up with a way to bribe them . We did get a chance to finally to watch them play one song . The rest is history . I got a chance to be in may bands with Gary & brother Steve over the many years . Nothing will ever compare to Gary's and Steve's love of music . Gary was one of my best friends .

Gary gave me my first guitar lessons at a local music store. I was a young kid that couldn't play one chord but when others in the store became loud and obnoxious Gary excused himself and forced the people to be quiet for my lesson. I will never forget that. I attended John Muir Jr High in Wausau, did Gary and Steve also? Had Mr. Davis for Phy Ed and Mr. Button for Homeroom!

It was such an honor to be able to care for Gary, Carol and their family. They've touched my heart, and he will be missed in so many ways! He sure kept me on my toes wondering what he would say next! What an incredible, talented loving man who loved his family. Hugs!
