Gary was born August 11, 1939, in Scott County, MO to Audie Ray Curry and Dorothy Sanders Curry. He married Beverly J. Edmonston Curry on April 21. 1980, in St. Louis, MO. She survives.

Other survivors include his children, Kelly (Mark) Gilmer, Laura (Tommy) Buckert, Lowell Stephen (LeeAnn) Pogue, Scott (Brenda) Pogue, son-in-law, Victor Kensey, sister, Sandy (George) Griffen, 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Cheryl Kensey.

Gary was a quiet and reserved man whose actions spoke louder than words. As a residential builder and Vice President of Jones Co. in St. Louis, Gary took great pride in his work. He found purpose and satisfaction in creating places where families could live, grow, and make memories.

Gary enjoyed spending four months each year in Arizona, embracing the slower pace and sunshine, and he treasured the memories made on his cruise to Alaska. If something caught his eye and brought him joy, he didn't hesitate to buy it, building his collection of knick-knacks. He was a loyal Kansas City Chiefs fan and enjoyed watching golf, along with playing a round himself from time to time.

Though quiet by nature, Gary was incredibly kind and thoughtful, known for his willingness to give anyone the shirt off his back. His generosity, steady presence, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Monroe City.
