Gary Richard Deeves passed away on March 24th at the age of 63 in Stamford, CT. Born and raised - while raising a little hell - in Greenwich, CT on April 19, 1961, he was the beloved only child of Ginger and Richard Deeves, who adored him immensely. He often spoke of their travels through Europe, but most fondly of summers spent in Fiji, a place that shaped his lifelong love for island life.
A passionate chef with an incredible work ethic and a larger-than-life personality, Gary played a key role in running many successful restaurants throughout Fairfield County, including The Rattlesnake, Sterling Ocean House, Tracks, Redding Roadhouse, The Seagrape, and more. Later, he found fulfillment managing a landscaping company alongside his best friend. No matter the job, he brought energy, humor, and an unmistakable presence, his booming laugh could fill a room, and his knack for pranks kept everyone on their toes.
Above all else, Gary’s greatest pride and joy was his son, Taylor. From camping trips to Caribbean cruises, he shared his love of travel and the importance of embracing life to the fullest. Together, they snorkeled in crystal-clear waters and took in breathtaking views, always carrying forward the adventurous spirit Gary’s parents had instilled in him. Some of his happiest moments were spent at home, smoking meats and watching New York Giants games, traditions that later included Taylor’s wife, Leila, and their beloved dog, Smudge, whom Gary adored.
He is survived by his son, Taylor Richard Deeves (wife Leila Dunn Deeves) of Stratford, and the close friends who were and always will be his chosen family. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
