Gary Edward Carter Dunham, 65, of Keene, passed peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born a son to the late Barbara (Chaffee) and Edward Valmore Dunham on March 7, 1959 in Keene. He was educated locally at Monadnock Regional High School, class of 1977. He continued his education at Unity University in Unity Maine where he obtained a bachelor's degree in forestry in 1985.
Gary started his career at People's Linen in 1988, working in all the departments doing a little bit of everything.
Gary, always happy to lend a helping hand, was a very active member of the Swanzey Community. He was a member of the Swanzey First Congregational Church, participated in the Old Homestead play, and was a member of the Swanzey Preservation Society.
Mr. Dunham is survived by his wife, Pamela (Caswell) Dunham of Keene, his siblings, Bruce Dunham of Swanzey, Richard Dunham and his wife, Diane of Swanzey, Debby Dunham of Keene and Carolyn Kirouac and her husband Ernest of Swanzey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gary is predeceased by his sister Martha Dunham.
A funeral service will be held for Gary on Friday June 28, 2024 at 11:00am at the First Congregational Church of Swanzey, 679 Old Homestead Highway Swanzey, NH 03446. A burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 875 Old homestead Highway Swanzey, NH 03446. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Gary's name to the Swanzey Preservation Society Home | Swanzey Preservation Society Home (swanzeyps.wixsite.com) or to the Old Homestead Association The Old Homestead Association – at the Potash Bowl in Swanzey, New Hampshire (oldhomesteadswanzey.com). Services are under the care of Cheshire Family Funeral Home and Crematories, 46 South Winchester Street West Swanzey, NH. 03431. www.cheshirefamilyfh.com.
