Gary G. Lapid, MD

Gary and I were toddlers and neighbors in Long Beach, CA. Our parents were friends.

Barbara introduced me to Gary when I was 17 and a patient at Stanford. Despite his schedule being full, he took me on and I was a piece of work. He took care of me. Helped me find myself and helped me heal from the family drama that I was born into. He told me after a suicide attempt that I would not succeed because I had more Tchi that anyone he met and that something inside me wanted to thrive. He encouraged me to meditate, and gave me books on eastern studies and spiritual practices that have shaped my adult life. At age 21 I changed my name from Brenda to Tchia and to this day credit him for guiding me. Without him I don't know if I would have made it. I send many blessings to his family
