Gary Michael Genereaux, age 88, of Milan, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Gary was born September 25, 1937, to the late William Arthur "Art" and Gladys Genereaux.
On May 28, 1960 he married the late Janet (Reoch) Genereaux. Gary is survived by his two sons, Jon (Denise) Genereaux of Tecumseh and Scott (Brenda) Genereaux of Saline. Gary has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two brothers Dean (Denise) Genereaux and Dennis (Debbie) Genereaux.
Gary worked many years for Haughton Elevator, installing and maintaining elevators all over the state. Later, he worked for the State of Michigan Forensic Center as a maintenance person responsible for not only maintaining their elevators, but electrical, phones, and anything that needed to be done.
When not working, Gary was a farmer at heart. With his dog Tonka at his side, he enjoyed raising animals including calves, turkeys, and chickens. In retirement, Gary and his wife Janet traveled with their fifth-wheel trailer to many parks, always finding a location overlooking the water where they would meet with and get to know new friends.
After his wife Janet passed away in 2009, Gary enjoyed spending time with family, especially with his grandchildren. He picked up wood working as a hobby and spent many hours in his barn making everything from wood cutting boards to rocking chairs.
Gary will be profoundly missed.
Private burial will take place in the Oakwood Cemetery in Saline where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Janet. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gary's name may be made to Meals on Wheels Saline. Donations may be mailed to Saline Area Senior Center, 7190 N. Maple Road, Saline, Michigan 48176. Please write "Meals on Wheels" in the check's memo line.
