Mr. Gilbert was called to his eternal home on January 23, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on January 18, 1946, in
Atlanta, Georgia to Floyd Andrew Gilbert and Gertrude Hall Gilbert, Gary was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him. His passing marks the end of a life lived with unwavering faith, dedication, and joy.
Gary dedicated 43 years of his life to the Owens Illinois Glass Company, in
East Point, GA, where he served diligently as an electrician. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who worked alongside him. Beyond his professional life, Gary was deeply involved in his church community. As a devout Christian, he was a faithful member of Red Ridge United Methodist Church. His service to the Lord was exemplified through his participation in the Brown Bag Program, an initiative through which he and his church family provided food to those in need. His generosity and compassion were a testament to his faith.
Those who knew Gary understood his love for life and his ability to fix anything that came his way. His hands were rarely still, as he was always tinkering, repairing, or improving something. This handy nature was a source of comfort and reliability to his loved ones.
Gary's presence at his children's sporting events was a constant. He was their biggest fan, never missing a game and always offering his unwavering support. His enthusiasm for their activities was matched by his own love for the outdoors. Gary was always ready for an adventure, whether it was a family camping trip or a solo motorcycle journey. His love for the open road and the beauty of nature was infectious.
At home, Gary's heart belonged to his little dog, Bailey, who was a cherished companion. His role as a husband, father, and grandfather was where he truly shone. His love for his family was the cornerstone of his life, and the legacy of his kindness, strength, and guidance will live on in their hearts forever.
Mr. Floyd Gary Gilbert's life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of family, and the joy of giving.
