Gary Anthony Hagan, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
Gary was born to the late Louise (Helwig), and William Hagan in Louisville, KY. He was retired after 35 years of service from the Louisville Police Department as a Detective Seargent in robbery and homicide. Prior to that he was a firefighter for 3 years. After his retirement, he continued to provide investigative services as a government contractor to the ATF.
During his career he was selected from an elite group of police officers to attend the nationally recognized Southern Police Institute and the prestigious FBI National Academy for law enforcement officers.
Gary is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia (O'Brien) Hagan; daughter, Holly Hedberg (Ryan); sister, Gayle Davis, and granddaughters, Amelia Grace, and Madeline Josphine.
His funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2025, at Holy Name Catholic Church, 2914 South 3rd Street, with burial at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.

I am very saddened to hear of Garys passing. I had the pleasure of meeting Gary at FBI National Academy. He was a true professional and a gentleman. He will always be remembered. My condolences to the family.
