Gary Edison Harder, 71, of Harpers Ferry, WV passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility in Kearneysville, WV, after a long battle with cancer.

Gary was born December 16, 1954 in Charles Town, WV. He was the son of the late Carroll Harder, Sr. and Mary Kelley Harder.

Gary was a lifelong resident to Jefferson County. He enjoyed going to McDonald's almost every morning for his coffee and to catch up with his crew. He also enjoyed his many get togethers with his good friends Rachel White, Judy Taylor and Dawn Peacy "Sis-Crocodile". He was a diehard Raiders fan and a big sports enthusiast. If there was a local game happening, you would usually find Gary there. He loved going to watch his grandchildren play basketball, volleyball and football.

Gary is survived by his fiancé, Eva Marshall, and his beloved fur babies, Lucy and Midnight; his three sons, Gary Harder, Jr. and wife, Brandy, Jason Harder and wife, Anna, Wesley Harder and wife, Rhiannon; his stepson, Justin Marshall and wife, Brooke; his grandchildren, Christopher, Lexi, Macayla, Brittany, Isabella, Madison, Bryce, Eli, and Quentin; his great-grandchildren, Kiah, Elliot, McKenna, Miya, Daxx, Delaney, Kobie; three sisters, Hilda Fellers, Margaret Smoot, and Elsie Mobley; and three brothers, Carroll Harder, Jr. and wife, Bonnie, Terry Harder and wife, Phyllis and Marvin Harder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jenny Nelson and Barbara Wilt, and a brother, Samuel Harder.

Services will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV with Pastor Mark Compton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the funeral service.
