Gary Steven Hauer, 70, of Elbow Lake, passed away on January 19, 2026, at his residence.
Gary was born on December 11, 1955, to Raymond and Ethel (Erickson) Hauer in St. Paul, Minnesota. He worked construction and drywall for many years. Gary loved to joke around with others, and he constantly made people laugh. He loved joking around so much, that it was hard to know if he was serious. Gary lived on the Mississippi River in a houseboat for many years and became known as “Gary Sea Legs”. Gary enjoyed spending time and speaking with his friends and family including his sister, children, and grandchildren, Raymond and Briannah.
Gary is survived by his children, Carena (Mike) Kelz, Steven (Jessica) Hauer; grandchildren, Raymond and Briannah Hauer; bonus grandchildren, Blair Kelz, Kaylee Broehm, Krissy Broehm; sibling, Donna Bingen; and sisters-in-law, Martha Hauer, and Erika Hauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ethel; siblings, George Hauer, Raymond Hauer; and brother-in-law, Jay Bingen.
There will be a BBQ at the Kelz (Carena & Mike) residence on Friday, April 17th, 2026, between 1 - 4pm in memory of Gary. Please join us in telling funny stories about Gary.
