HOGARTH, Gary F. of Kalamazoo Passed away June 12, 2010 at Rose Arbor Hospice Care. He was born April 16, 1932 in Bad Axe, MI to the late Frank and Bessie (Snoddon) Hogarth. Gary was united in marriage on June 25, 1983 to the former Deanna Jensen, who survives. Gary received a B.S. degree as well as an M.S., both from Western Michigan University. Gary was a teacher in the Kalamazoo Public Schools for over 33 years. He loved to travel the world and visited many different places. Gary was a loyal fan of WMU football and enjoyed woodworking, both artistically and structurally. With his family, Gary came to Kalamazoo at age 9. Except for 2 years in the U.S. Army (Germany), he was a long-time resident of the Kalamazoo area and followed his family through school, sports and Boy Scouts. Gary was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kalamazoo. Also surviving Gary are his children, Craig (Linda) Hogarth of Carmel, IN, Jon (Kelly) Hogarth of Schoolcraft and Todd (Hillary) Hogarth of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren, Sarah, Casey, Carly, Kerri, Elise, Lilly, Ethan and Luke, all Hogarth's; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hogarth and Joyce (Willard) Robinson; brothers-in-law, Carroll Jensen and Bruce (Susan) Jensen; and cousins and their children. Also preceding Gary in death were, Patricia Hogarth, the mother of his 3 children; and his brother, Grant Hogarth. Gary lived a long and healthy life. His smile and positive attitude will be missed by all of his many friends and relatives. Family will greet friends on Thursday, June 17th from 5 – 7:00 o'clock at the First United Methodist Church, 212 S. Park Street, Kalamazoo, where a Memorial service will take place Friday, June 18th at 11:00 o'clock. Arrangements are by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Memorials in Gary's name may be directed to First United Methodist Church (Outreach Program), Parkinson's Disease Research Fund in Ann Arbor or Hospice of S.W. Michigan.
