Gary Leslie Holt, 75, of Hickory, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Frye Regional Medical Center.
Born September 2, 1948, in Hot Springs, N.C., he was the son of the late Manley and Dossie Marcum Holt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Tim Holt, siblings: Don Holt, Bill Holt, Margaret Fowler, Mary Ruth Renfro, Ruby Holland, Maxine Martin, Markie Holt, Terry Holt Berry, and Van Holt.
Mr. Holt was an owner/operator in the trucking industry, he enjoyed auctions, racing, the Carolina Panthers, riding his sling shot and many of his other man toys. He truly felt that Bluegrass music was the only music there was. All in all, his greatest joy and love was for his family, who he adored tremendously.
Those left to cherish his memory, are his wife, Carol Miller Holt of the home, daughter's; Jennifer Fox and husband Robert of Newton, Rebecca Vienneau and husband James of Connecticut, and Rachel Fernandez of Glade Valley, sister, Deborah Holt of Hot Springs, grandchildren: Cortney Holt, Aiden Sigmon, Allie Brooks, Adalyn Hall, Kathryn Fernandez, Jamie Vienneau, Lorelei Archer, Larkin Fox, and Andy Fox, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. David Crump officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to the service.
