Garry L. Jones

Garry Lemar Jones was born in Paterson New Jersey on January 28, 1957. He was the son of Paris Sr. and Annabelle.
He was a dedicated family man above all else. He married the love of his life, Rhonda Mills, and together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional support. He was a proud and devoted father to his children, Sharelle, Khalil, and Isaiah, serving as both a role model and a steady source of encouragement in all their endeavors.
Garry's life was intrinsically linked to the gridiron. He was an avid football player at North Carolina A&T University Greensboro, NC and a fan of the Washington Commanders. However, his greatest joy was found on the field with the Alwags through the Trojans and as a beloved coach of his sons in the Paterson youth development league and high schools until suffering a stroke.
He was also known for his patience and integrity, he didn't just teach the game; he taught life lessons. His coaching philosophy centered on giving out love, emphasizing teamwork, resilience, and respect, and he often lent a patient ear to any player or friend facing a challenge. The lasting impact he had on the countless young men he mentored is a testament to his character and kindness. His presence was a comfort to many.
Garry possessed a rare ability to truly listen, offering counsel and comfort without judgment. His spirit of generosity and genuine compassion extended far beyond his immediate family and the football field, touching everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Garry departed this life, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 68. He leaves a legacy defined by profound love for his family, a passion for football, and a selfless, listening heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Paris Sr. and Annabelle Jones, and son; Khalil.
Garry is survived by his loving wife; Rhonda, daughter; Sharelle, son; Isaiah, grandchildren; Madison, Makayla, and Wyatt, siblings; Sharon, Ericka, Jeffery and Paris Jr., and a host of extended family members, aunts, cousins, former players, and dear friends who will miss his gentle spirit and warm smile.
