Gary Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. - Peru on Jan. 11, 2026.
Gary Wayne Jones, 73, of Willsboro, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 9, 2026 in the arms of his loving wife, Shirley.
Gary was a deeply loving and generous husband, father, son and brother. He was born in Albany, March 12, 1952, the son of Robert and Jane (Roberts) Jones as the youngest brother to Robert Jones (predeceased), Donna Jones and Marilyn Layton (Jones).
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 48 years, Shirley (Gniewek) Jones; children, Jennifer Traviglia (Dan Traviglia), Gary Robert Jones (Kristy Imhof), Elizabeth Fortine (Alan Fortine) and Brittany Jones. Gary was a loving grandfather to Cyrus Traviglia, Cooper Jones, Elisha Traviglia, Sonny Jones and Scotty Fortine.
Gary was a graduate of Hope College with a double major in Business Administration and Psychology. Gary raised his children in Clifton Park, NY while spending weekends and summers building his home in Willsboro, NY. Gary was a finance professional most of his career at General Electric and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory.
Gary made friends with all those he encountered with his joyous, warm, fun, outgoing personality which will be missed. Gary had a love of music - trumpet and singing, carpentry, boating and repairing cars. He never missed a morning walk. He loved his summers and retirement years boating on Lake Champlain. He lived his life in service to others and would be the first to tow a stranded boat to shore and lend a helping hand to a friend. Faith, family and friends were the cornerstones of his life.
A Christian Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11 AM at the Willsboro Congregational Church, 3199 N Main St, Willsboro, NY 12996, with Rev, Rick Feeney, presiding. A luncheon will follow in the church hall. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery, Essex, will be private in the spring.
Donations in memory of Gary Wayne Jones may be made to the Willsboro Congregational Church, or the organization of your choosing.
Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 518-643-9055.
