Mr. Gary Gwyn Kirby

GARY G. KIRBY HICKORY - Gary Gwyn Kirby, 65, of Hickory went to be with his Lord on April 21, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Born on October 30, 1947 in Caldwell County, he was the son of the late Hoarce L. Kirby. Gary was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and a member of the Lutheran Layman League. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend to all who knew him. Gary was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the US Army. He recently retired from GMAC Insurance as an adjustor and previously was the body shop manager for Everette Chevrolet. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a very special uncle, Ray Kirby. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Doris Kirby; daughter, Angelique Bost of Hickory; a very special aunt, Ella Mae "Effie" Kirby of Lenoir; and his beloved pets, Sassy and Noah. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 3 PM at Concordia Lutheran Chuch with Pastor Mark Schudde and Vicar Harry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 at the church. On-line condolences may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com.
