Gary "Squeak" Lafary, 73, of Bushnell, Illinois passed away at 4:00 am Friday March 1, 2024 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born September 14, 1950 in Avon, IL to Harley G. and Mary Evelyn (Thrasher) Lafary. He married Elieen Harty on July 3, 1976 in Bushnell, IL. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter Lara Lafary of Bushnell, IL her three children, Garret (Hannah Kroll), Sky and Nicholas Lafary; sister Sandra McVey of Abingdon, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Randy Lafary.
Gary worked for WIU. After retirement he worked part time at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course before fully retiring.
Gary had many hobbies he loved such as trapshooting, race cars, golfing, and the Masonic Lodge/ Eastern Star (T.J Pickett Lodge and Macomb Chapter Order of Eastern Star). He supported his grandchildren endlessly and loved his best dog buddies Minnie Elizabeth and Daisy Bell. He liked to go to races often and in his younger days would ride motorcycles with Elieen. Gary was also in the Navy, and was incredibly proud of his grandson Garret joining the Marine Corps. Gary will be loved and missed by many.
Cremation rites were accorded by Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. Graveside Masonic Services and full Military Rites will be held in the Good Hope Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Monday July 1, 2024. Rev. Ned Fry will officiate. A Celebration of Life will follow services at the Walnut Grove Community Center. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to T.J. Pickett Lodge or the Harry Mussatto Golf Course at Western Illinois university. Please sign the guestbook and leave memorials at www.martinhollisfh.com.
