Gary Marchlewski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lakeview Funeral Home - Chicago on Nov. 19, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Gary Victor Marchlewski, 64, of Chicago, Illinois passed away surrounded by the love of his family on November 17, 2025. Gary was a devoted husband to Catherine and proud father to Colleen Castellano, both of whom were the center of his world. Gary was truly Prince Charming to Cathy's Cinderella.
He served his country with honor in the United States Army, carrying with him a deep sense of patriotism, duty, integrity and quiet strength throughout his life.
A lifelong lover of science fiction, Gary found joy in Star Trek and any story that let his imagination reach beyond the stars. He also had a deep affinity for nautical history, especially lighthouses and the quiet, steady symbolism they carried. Whether he was talking starships or shorelines, he lit up when he shared the things he loved. Throughout his life, Gary loved nature and animals, especially dogs and birds. His love of nature took him on many walks throughout the parks and beaches around the city.
Gary will be remembered for his kindness, his sharp sense of humor, and the way he showed up for the people he cared about. His presence made life feel a little lighter, a little brighter. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and all who knew him.
Gary is survived by his wife Catherine (nee Hawkins), daughter Colleen (Adam), mother Nancy (nee Wisniewski), sister Deborah (James Paulson), sons Richard Loureiro (Shannon), Eric Loureiro, grandchildren Bianca DeLeon, Zairah Loureiro, Richard K. Loureiro (Jeannette), Kailyn Siewierski (Seth), Madelyn Loureiro, Cambrie Loureiro, Jaxon Loureiro and great grandsons Colton Loureiro and Nash Siewierski.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Marchlewski.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or Paws Chicago.
