Gary H. "Ticker" Marek

Gary H. "Ticker" Marek, age 83, formerly of Bloomer, passed away on September 29, 2022 at his home in Almena. He was born May 5, 1939 in Chippewa County to Henry and Bernice (Poirier) Marek. On July 31, 1965, Gary married Bette Stehlik in Chicago IL. He served in the US Army and worked as an accountant for the City of Eau Claire and Washburn County. He was an active member of his church where he served as treasurer, a Sunday School teacher and on the church council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter: Michelle (Eric) Lehenbauer of Prospect KY; step-son: Russell (Lisa) Hamilton of Porter, IN; brother: Larry Marek of Chisago City MN; sisters: Bonita Kunsman of Palm Desert CA, and Judy (Tim) Arntz of West Hills CA; grandchildren: David, Donavan, Sarah, Liesl and Leyna.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Bernice; wife: Bette, brothers: Dennis and infant, Joe.
Funeral Services will be held at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Almena at 4pm, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, with a visitation one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Military honors will be conducted by the Almena VFW. Burial will be held in the Bloomer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Wounded Warrior Project P.O.
