Gary M. 'Gabe' McCready, loving father, grandfather & friend

ALLEGANY --- Gary M. McCready of Allegany passed away peacefully on Monday, September 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Gabe was born March 23, 1953 in Olean and was the son of James F. and Rita M. Pierce McCready.  He was formerly married to Michelle R. Simon McCready who survives.

Gabe attended Olean Public Schools.  He worked for Erie and Conrail Railroad from 1973 to 1993 as a Trackman and Bus Driver.  After retiring from the railroad, Gary went into business for himself doing lawncare and hauling.  He was a hard worker and was always there for his family.

Gabe was an avid Buffalo Bills and St. Bonaventure Basketball Fan as well as a softball player for the Men's Tavern League for several years.  Gabe also played on a horseshoe league, dart leagues and bowling leagues.  He enjoyed watching golf and the Buffalo Bills games but most of all he enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball.

Gabe is survived by a daughter, Gretchen M. Spencer of Olean; two grandsons, Dylan T. Spencer and Adam M. Spencer; close friends Peter Chicola and James Brady; and several nieces and nephews.

Gabe was predeceased by his parents, and three siblings, James W. McCready, David "Buzzy" McCready and Barbara Metcalf.
