Gary McFarland

Our beloved Grandfather, Gary Lee McFarland, passed away with family by his side on Wednesday February 18th at UC Medical Center at 6:49 pm. He was 83 yrs. old.

Gary was born on June 14th 1942 in Corbin, KY. He met his wife, Diane McFarland, at the Roller dome in Indianapolis, IN when he was 16 yrs. old. They married two yrs. later.

Gary dedicated over 30 yrs. to Cavalier Construction Co. rebuilding & remodeling homes across KY, IN & OH. He was a friend to all he met including his employees. He brought love & warmth to every room he entered.

Outside of work, Gary loved fishing all around KY, IN & OH. He was known for his ability to tell the same fishing story with a bigger catch every yr! He was a member of the Muskies Inc. club where he & his Grandson, Shawn, won a free fishing trip to Lake Kishkutena in Ontario Canada! When Gary & Diane hung up their pontooning days, they moved on to organizing a kids free fishing tournament at Prisoner's Lake every yr. Gary was more than happy to give up his birthday & Father's Day plans "to give back to the kids". They got everything sponsored, right down to the bait!

He is survived by his wife, Diane McFarland; his brother, Kenneth McFarland; his cousin, Darrell Davis; his children, Kenton McFarland; Tamara McFarland; Shawna Cundiff & Sherry Phelps. His Grandchildren, Shawn Hon; Stephanie Herndon; Justin Hon; Dominique Guilfoyle; Jacob Ranshaw; Annalysa Prather; Jonathan Koch; Elena Hurtt; Nathan McFarland; Alisha Doctor; Gary McFarland & Ryder Phelps. His Great Grandchildren, Jacob Hon; Cadence Hon; Makayla Herndon; Landon Hon; Kaiden Hon; Jeremy Hon; Chase Hon; Savah Rankin; Nicholas Clark; Bentley Lewis & Brayden Lewis.

Services are on Monday February 23rd at Don Catchens Family Funeral Homes in Elsmere, KY 11:30 - 1:30 pm. Funeral to follow at Mother of God Cemetery at 2 pm.

His big hearted, quick witted and happy self will remain in our hearts forever.
