Dr. Gary D. Mirts

Gary was my whole family´s vet for years until he retired. He was the best Dr.! Not only was he a brilliant Dr., he was so kind and compassionate. He was so loved and will be missed so much! Prayers for his wife and children and all his family.

Gary was our Vet for 30 years and he was The Best and He would talk to you like a Real person and always listen and even cried when we had to put our 22 year old cat Hoppy.

When my husband was in medical school we adopted an Afghan hound that had heartworms. He treated her free of charge. What a guy!

Im so sorry for your loss. I worked for him from 1992 to 1999, he was a wonderful boss. He was so dedicated to taking care of everyone's furbabies. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dr Mirts will forever be loved and missed and will always hold a dear place in my heart. He was the first doctor I worked with when I started as a tech at UVH. He´s taught me many things over the years of working together. It was so awesome getting to see him come in and say hello after he retired. He always talked about his family. They were the most important thing to him. And he would like to tell stories about when he lived in "Missoura". He never missed a day that I saw him that he didn´t ask me how my kids were and what new things they were up to. And he always remembered what I told him and the next time I saw him he would ask about it. He would always say he wanted a gooseberry pie made by Betty if you ask him if he wanted a sweet treat. He loved taking us to Imperial Cathay for lunch as a break in our day. Thank you Dr Mirts for always believing in me to grow in vet med. Always being the caring and wonderful person you will always be. And making an impact on anyone who knew you.

Dr. Mirtz took care of my first 2 cats after moving to Shreveport. He was such a kind, compassionate man. My thoughts are with his family and his clinic family

My dog Sheba became Dr. Mirtz patient when he first opened his clinic. We were patients #37 in his account books. We took our sweet dogs to him for many years. He was an awesome veterinarian and a kind, gentle man. He will be so missed. Our condolences to his family from Gil and Carol Bazo.

Dr. Mirts told the best stories, always remembered what's going on with everyone's family, and spent a lifetime caring for animals. What a wonderful, full life he lived! I had the honor to work with him for about ten years and considered him family. His impact on the community is profound. My heart is with you, Mrs. Betty and family.

Dr Mirts was an exceptional vet. Loved the babies he helped and was the kindest person to us pet parents.

Aunt Betty and all my cousins,

Thinking of you all and holding you close in my saddened heart. Uncle Gary was the best uncle a guy could have. His frequent calls solving all the world´s problems was priceless and meant the world to me. He will be deeply missed by all of us. He was a wonderful person.

Please accept our deepest heartfelt sympathy for Gary's passing. He was always my favorite uncle. I will always remember the fun times on Grandpa's farm back in Missouri. Gary was the big brother I never had. America thanks him for his military service during his time in the U.S. Army. Gary Mirts was one of the "Good Guys". Semper Fidelis

Dr Mirts was the first vetinerian I brought my dog to for care in 1979. He lovingly cared for many of my dogs over the span of 40 years from the practice he began. University Vetinery Hospital. He was a kind and gentle person who loved every animal he cared for. He will be missed.
