Gary Daniel Nickol Sr., 76, of Huntersville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026.
Born on August 15, 1949, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, Gary was the son of the late William and Colleen Nickol. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bill, David, and Gerald.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Donna Nickol, whose happiness was always his greatest priority. He also leaves behind his children, Paula Meyer and Gary Nickol Jr. & his wife Cynthia, and his seven adored grandchildren: Aiden, Peyton, Reile, Aerin, Casey, Rocco, and Simone. Gary is further survived by his brothers Kenneth, Wayne, Richard, Mark, and John, and his sisters Cathy, Colleen, and Shelly.
A proud veteran, Gary served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, he dedicated 33 years of hard work and commitment to Permacel in North Brunswick, New Jersey, where he built not just a career, but lasting friendships. He was a longtime and active member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion, organizations that reflected his strong sense of service and community.
Gary was known for his steadfast devotion to his family and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Dependable, generous, and steady in all things, he was the kind of man others could always count on. In his younger years, he enjoyed working on cars and proudly restored three classic automobiles — a testament to his patience, skill, and love of craftsmanship.
Gary’s legacy is one of loyalty, hard work, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
