Gary Lee Reed was born to Leroy and Almedia Reed on June 28, 1958.

Gary was raised in Las Vegas where he attended school and he finished his education at Clark High School.

Gary started his relationship with God as a Baptist at Calvary Baptist Church at a young age. Although he stepped away for some time, he later returned to Christ at the Oasis Christian Center under Archbishop George Ward and First Lady Linda Ward, where he served as a deacon until he passed.

Gary spent most of his adult life working in the casino industry from the Sahara Hotel to the Silver Nugget Casino and later the Poker Palace, from which he retired.

Gary loved his family. He loved hanging out with family, playing dominoes and spades.

But as much as he liked to hang out, he also liked to chill at home, cook dinner, have a sports drink, and hang out with Josette watching sports, yelling at the TV while rooting for the Dodgers and the Rams.

Gary was preceded in death by both his parents, Leroy and Almedia, and 7 siblings, 3 of them being Melvin Reed, George Warner, and Yester Taylor.

He leaves behind to mourn his common-law wife of 32 years, Ms. Josette Robertson, and 5 remaining siblings:

3 sisters — Joyce Harris (Frank), Roberta Yates (Vernon), Jolene Reed;

Terry Harris (Reginald); and 1 brother, Larry Reed.

2 sons, Melvin Reed and Harry Smith, and 1 daughter, Kashunda Reed; several grandkids, a host of nephews and nieces, as well as family and friends.

Poem – “Home”

Home

It’s hard to say goodbye to the ones we truly love.

We find ourselves asking God what was He thinking of.

If you were here I know you’d say God knows what’s best.

Although you said you could live another 30 years, He knew you needed rest.

You were more than just a father,

you were a brother, friend, and uncle and a deacon in the church.

You took each job seriously, especially God’s work.

When your earthly journey was over and you met the Father at the throne,

I’m sure He said, “My good and faithful servant, your job was well done.”
