Gary Lee Roth, aged 80, went to be with the Lord peacefully in his home on September 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on August 20, 1944, Gary was known for his kindness, generosity, and wisdom, embodying the true spirit of a family man and a hard worker. Gary served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965, dedicating four years to serving his country with honor and valor. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a Master Fabricator, where he applied his meticulous skills and creative craftsmanship.
A man of deep faith, Gary loved the Lord wholeheartedly, was devoted to studying the Bible, and shared his faith passionately with family and friends. His creative spirit was reflected in his hobbies; he was a gifted writer of both poetry and prose, an avid horticulturist, and a talented craftsman. Gary's skills extended to wood carving and music, having taught himself to play the banjo. He also mastered the art of faceting, creating unique jewelry pieces for his beloved wife and family.
Gary is survived by his son, John A. Roth (Danielle) of Somonauk; daughter, Amy L. Valela (Peter) of Somonauk; grandchildren, Maggie McGuire, Harper Roth, Miles Roth, Adaline Roth, Juliette Roth, Rebecca Roth, Eleanor Roth, Judith Roth, John Roth, Penelope Roth, PJ (Marissa) Valela, Anna Valela, Mia Valela, Asa Valela; great-granddaughter, Sage Valela and soon expected great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife and best friend, Karen Roth, parents, Les and Helen Roth; daughter, Rebekah Jordal (Roth); and grandchild, Allison N Jordal.
Gary's life was one of service, creativity, and devotion, a testament to his love for his family, his country, and his faith, leaving a lasting impact on his family and all who knew him. He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. at Beverage Family Funeral Home, 104 Terry St. Sandwich, IL 60548. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home with pastor Shayne Stoddard officiating. A graveside service will take place at a later date.
